Central Florida Beaches & Cities

The Central Florida Region & Area Attractions

The Central Florida starts north of The Villages FL and ends on the south border of Tampa Bay. It's boundaries don't really matter other than descriptive. The area contains some great places to live, great beaches and believer it or not some actual hills.

Counties In The Central Florida Region

The following counties are in what is considered to be Central Florida. Yes, they are in alphabetical order. Brevard County, Citrus County, Hernando County, Hillsborough County, Lake County, Orange County, Osceola County, Pasco County, Pinellas County, Polk County, Seminole County, Sumpter County and Volusia Counties are all within Central FL. In total there are 13 counties in Central Florida. See more about the Central Florida Counties.

The Largest City In Central Florida

Tampa is the larger city by population but Orlando Florida is the larger city by land area. Tampa Bay which is often confused with Tampa FL is actually much of Hillsborough County and the city of Tampa is only one of several in the greater Tampa Bay area. Just as the Greater Orlando Metropolitan area contains may cities other than Orlando FL. See More About the Central Florida Cities.

Attractions In The Central Florida Region

Basically the three top attractions are Tampa, Orlando Florida and let's face it, Walt Disney World and the theme parks surrounding it. After all over 70,000,000 travel to Orlando each year and although downtown Orlando is actually very nice those visitors are headed to a theme park.

The Attractions Per & Around Tampa & Orlando

Close to and in Orlando are both new attractions and some already famous ones. Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and the still open Seaworld. Brand new parks include Icon Park and many other to discover on and around US-192 & Kissimmee Florida. Just an hour from here you will find Daytona Beach, Cocoa Beach and the Kennedy Space Center. On your way you will see countless orange groves and a open spaces. Lake Tohopekaliga in Kissimmee is also fairly popular. See more about the Central Florida Attractions

Toward the west you will pass Winter Haven FL (Legoland) and Lakeland FL. Then Plant City which is the strawberry capital of the world. Attractions galore and all things strawberry. Be careful in Polk County, you might never leave this part of Central Florida. It is one of Florida's hidden gems for affordability and located in a very fast growing area.

Other Cities In The Central Florida Region

Lake Wales is a great spot but a little but rural. It is just west of Winter Haven FL & South of Kissimmee. Windermere Florida is one of Florida's most secretive and wealthy cities and borders Disney. Winter Garden FL and Horizon West are the fastest growing area in the Central Florida Region and it too borders Walt Disney World property. Although I prefer where I live, I really like parts of Clermont Florida because of the chain of lakes, affordability and the hills around it.

The Central Florida Region Weather

The hurricane season ends by the end of October. By November the Central Florida region is cooling off and becoming paradise. During January & February expect mid fifties to mid seventies. Some popular attractions in the winter are racing events, outdoor adventures etc. Plan your outdoor activities in the winter in Central Florida. It is seldom rainy and the kids will enjoy life having fun outdoors.

Spring Starts in March and by September & August the beach towns and hotels on the gulf coast are full so if you plan to visit make sure your plans are made well in advance. Many a beach town await you and if you take the time to explore one you may never leave. See you soon in the Central Florida Region.
