The average temperature in August is a far cry from the average winter temperatures in Central Florida. With it rarely getting below 50 f the low temperatures here seldom require a coat to be worn by a northern tourist. Locals may wear a jacket during occasional cold snaps during the winter months but rarely. Mild winters allow Florida residents to day daytime walks in a t-shirt and not even break a sweat.
Well believe it or not it does occasionally freeze enough to destroy the citrus crops. This rarely happens but it does happen enough that the farmers are prepared to deal with it. Both Central Florida and the coastal regions will have the first cold front pass through near the first part of November. Lower humidity makes this a great time to visit the theme parks but you won't be the only one to think of that as they have year round traffic. The dew points will decrease and winter will have its lowest temperatures in January. The climate will begin to improve by the end of February and will slowly get warmer.
