Yes Central Florida is a good place to live. To live in Central Florida is to have the best available in Florida all in one place. The best weather, the best beaches, the two best cities and yes the best theme parks in the world are all here in Central Florida.
In South Florida you either live in the middle of nowhere or the traffic is atrocious. Southwest Florida has some decent areas but they are to far from everything of interest. Miami is famous for much more than South Beach. It is infamous for crime, congestion and the miserable summer heat. Not to mention hurricane season. None of that applies in Central Florida.
North Florida just gets to cold and is to much like Alabama and Georgia. I have no idea why the state capital is still in Tallahassee. All that is there is Florida State University and some government buildings. What tourist goes to Tallahassee or Jacksonville who doesn't have relatives there? My point exactly.
Not only does the Orlando area have Universal Orlando Resort and Walt Disney World Resort it also has affordable housing. True, there are more exclusive portions of the city which are more expensive but the fact remains that the median home price is about the national average. Affordable housing is a necessary part of being a good place to live. Not to mention it affords the residents more money for entertainment etc. Valencia College is just one of the colleges located here.
Being the theme park capital also means there are job opportunities and Walt Disney World Resort is one of the areas largest employers. Although it may not be a good long term career choice if you live in Central Florida then Walt Disney World may be the place to start off employment experience for the younger adults in a household. Theme parks have more than just one use.
Downtown Orlando is a little more prices but also a great place for young professionals to live in Central Florida. Winter Park, Baldwin Park and Thornton Park are also great places and near downtown Orlando. You will quickly notice that there are many government jobs, medical industry jobs and other types of opportunities for employment at many levels. There is much more to Orlando than theme parks and it has a booming job market.
Although young professionals may flock to Winter Park, Orlando or Tampa not everyone is interested in that. There are many 55 Plus communities Like The Villages spread around Orange County, Seminole County and yes Sumter County where the Villages are located. Single family homes cost less in them but often community fees are higher.
Between the greater Orlando area and Tampa lie Lakeland FL and Winter Haven on the I4 Corridor. Both of these areas have low property taxes and an affordable housing market. Not that they are for old people. Bothe places have attractions like Legoland in Winter Haven FL and Florida Southern College in Lakeland which is famous for the Frank Lloyd Wright architecture.
For overall employment opportunities, beautiful beaches and less traffic congestion head over to Tampa Bay and Hillsborough County FL. This is a popular destination but the cost of living is a little higher. Because of the beautiful beaches, water sports, entertainment options and top schools found here most would say it is worth it. Orlando offers many of the same things, just no ocean.
