No Sarasota is not considered to be in Central Florida. Sarasota Florida is in Sarasota County in southwest Florida on the south side of Manatee County. From Manatee County southward is considered to be South Florida. Hillsborough County and Pinellas County on the north side of Manatee County are considered Central Florida.
South Florida's west coast has had some challenges of late. Namely the hurricane and now declining home prices. The gulf coast was devastated and now rebuilding and development in Sarasota and along the southwest coast have finally begun to pick up steam. Thankfully early October will bring peace to the hurricane season.
The challenge now is the housing costs in this region are declining. As the AirBnB homes are sold off, Interest rates climb and newer communities slash their prices to sell the existing homes. Those who are patient and love beaches located in southwest Florida counties will be able to pick up an good deal on a house or land soon, at least in the long term. Take some time to visit this location and look over what the southwest coasts have to offer. Naples FL and Siesta Key Beach should be on your list as well.
In Central Florida is another great location. Pinellas County offers Clearwater Florida and St Petersburg Florida for those who love the gulf coast and beautiful beaches. This area has not been directly hit in hurricane season for a long time. Just beautiful sea breezes and the occasional tropical storm or daily thunderstorms during the summer months that pass through. About the only thing that could be better here is public transportation throughout the Tampa Bay area.
From Daytona Beach through Cocoa Beach (east of Orlando) to the south is considered Central Florida. Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale and obviously Miami are considered south Florida. Expect high temperatures in South Florida to feel even hotter. On the bright side the winter time in this part of America is also beach weather. I have lived and travelled all along AIA which runs down the Atlantic Coast and really liked it with the exception of horrible traffic. Now I stick with the Tampa Bay area.
