Is Ocala Considered Central Florida?

No Ocala is not considered Central Florida. Ocala is in Marion County which is considered North Florida. Immediately to the south are Citrus County, Lake County and Sumpter County which all are considered to be in Central Florida so you are very close.

Central Florida

Marion County & Ocala National Forest In North Florida

Ocala National Forest used to be the main attraction in Marion County. Over the past decade that has certainly changed as Ocala has truly become a great place to live within the United States, and been recognized for it. I would say Ocala was always a great place just because of the beauty surrounding it and of course the major highways and being less than 40 miles to the gulf coast.

The Horse Capital Of The World

Every major city has its moniker and Ocala is no different. Why is it called the Horse Capital of The World? Because it has nearly perfect weather for them most of the year and there are so many ranches and horses located here. The abundance of rural property has evolved over the years into a beautiful array of country estates and animals. A truly must see if you have the time to take a trip.

Marion County & Ocala National Forest A United States Treasure

All over the Central Florida area there are state parks. North Central Florida is no different and offers some true jewels for visiting. One of those is the huge Ocala National Forest with over 600 square miles of forest and water adventures to be discovered.

This park is larger than almost all of the parks in Central and South Florida with the possible exception of the Everglades National ark and how you divide it. You will have no problem finding it on the east side of this Central Florida town.

Silver Springs State Park

Yes, there is even more to the area. To be truthful most will probably enjoy this park even more than the one I just covered. Think kayak, glass bottom boat tours and clear water that makes it look like you are floating on air. Prices are far to low and you will feel like donating when you leave. Most people return again and that is saying something for a state park in Florida because of competition. In closing also take the time to tour downtown Ocala since someday it may be your home.
