Unfortunately you do have to pay for Ben T Davis Beach Parking. Most of the parking in Tampa Bay is a pay as you go style paid for in 1 hour increments. The price for Ben T Davis Beach usually ranges from 50 cents per hour up to $2.50 per hour via the ParkMobile App. Hours are sunrise to sunset in the designated areas.
Although this is a fairly little beach it is one of the few public ones in the Tampa area. It is a popular beach as you will see in the summer time, Labor Day, Memorial Day etcetera. It is also the closest beach to downtown Tampa and Tampa International Airport and that means the hotels around the Tampa airport.
If playing beach volleyball at the beach is not enough exercise for you then you can take a walk on the adjacent Courtney Campbell Trail. If you are up to it and reach the other side of the Courtney Campbell Causeway there is another beach area well before you reach Clearwater Beach. Parking there is on the sand and there is a lot less of it. Some say it is a more relaxing beach and it to has a powdery white sand. I have also seen dogs on that beach.
Later in the afternoon on the east end of Ben T Davis Beach the two restaurants are a great place to hangout and drink the night away or just have some dinner. Either restaurant has good food and the beach area there is cleaner and not as busy. Try Whiskey Joe's which is my favorite.
Restrooms, picnic area, some sea life and beach volleyball are just about it. Other than that pay attention to the water quality signs nearest the smaller area closest to the west end. When you park make sure the car tag is visible from the center of the parking area or you will be contributing to the sate of Florida via a fine.
