Ben T Davis Beach is located on the southeastern side of the Courtney Campbell Causeway. There are two main entrances to the beach area and one that is for both the restaurants and beach access. Ben Davis Beach is open from sunrise to sunset.
No dogs are allowed on Ben T Davis Beach per the City of Tampa FL. Some say that dogs are allowed that are leashed and picked up after, some say service animals are allowed but there are even signs at the beach stating, No Dogs On Beach.
The hours of operation are from sunrise to sunset at Ben T Davis Beach. Parking is pay as you go just like most of the city. I use the parking app on my phone and I have seen parking cost as little as fifty cents per half hour. I believe it can get as high as several dollars when the beach is busy. The northern end of the beach is usually the most secluded and also overlooks Tampa Bay.
The Tampa International Airport is very close by and so is downtown Tampa. If you measure from the center of the Tampa International Airport it is under 3 miles in a straight line from this location. That means it is illegal to fly a drone without a permit from the FAA and approval from the Control Tower. However, planes do not affect the beach itself. It is outside the flight path and still a very relaxing beach other than the traffic noise from the Courtney Campbell Causeway.
You can park your car but remember it is pay as you go. There is more than one hotel nearby but at the beach there are only restaurants and a bar. Either restaurant here is just fine for dinner but as you should expect they get rather busy during the late afternoon and night hours.
The beach on the This part of the Tampa Bay shore is a whitish sand with a lot of shell fragments and not like you will find over at the ocean in Clearwater Beach. It is however cool enough to walk on and some people here will be swimming. When you visit the safety of the water is posted with a swim advisory on the north end of the beach area.
If you are staying at one of the local hotels then you can say you visited the beach in Tampa Florida. You can walk here, enjoy some good food, play volleyball and basically hang out all day practically free other than parking if you drive. On those summer weekends you better come early as parking is a smaller area closest to the road.
There is usually calm water and the area itself is attractively landscaped, there are picnic areas, a decent parking area and you can eat nearby. This is a relatively narrow beach but not really a little beach. The only drawback is also the only asset. That is nearby Courtney Campbell CSWY connects downtown Tampa Florida to Clearwater Beach.
