Clearwater Beach is the whitest beach in the United States. Actually the beaches from Honeymoon Island on the Sunshine Coast (North Tampa Bay) south to Marco Island are all a brilliant hat quartz sand. Of these beaches Clearwater Beach is the best beach overall and can be used 12 months out of the year.
Clearwater Florida is found on the west side of Tampa Florida and on the west side of Tampa Bay. On the west side of Clearwater is a small barrier island, welcome to Clearwater Beach the home of beautiful white sand beaches, deep sea fishing excursions, beach clubs, street performers and countless other activities. No stand up paddle boarding in the designated swimming area, just beach fun.
Clearwater Beach offers include a fantastic pier, boardwalk, crystal clear waters, gentle waves and sunsets over the gulf coast. All of the water is classified as the Atlantic Ocean and the spectacular white sand is actually quartz from the Appalachian Mountains far to the north.
Within the area known as the Sun Coast the next most popular beach is St Pete Beach about 20 minutes to the south. This is rated as a more family friendly beach probably because of the beach front hotels but I fail to really see any difference and both have white sandy beaches. The actual town, surrounding area and attractions are just better in Clearwater Beach. Clearwater Beach is also closer to the airports nearby.
Siesta Key Beach is famous for having powdery white sand and supposedly the highest quartz sand content. Its' stunning beaches are so bright that I advise you to wear your sunglasses in the afternoon. Th glare from the gulf waters when you have gentle waves and from the brilliant white sand beaches can be a bit much.
This barrier island consistently ranks as one of the best white sand beaches in the USA and rightfully so. It's weakness is also its' strengths to many of its fans. That is the associated and nearby towns. If you're a beach purest then this may become your favorite beach getaway. Trust me, after your first visit you will forever remember the soft white sands.
Orange Beach gets honorable mention as it is probably the best part of Alabama. However it falls short of the best beaches in the USA for many reasons. Still it does have a white sand beach. On to Gulf Islands National Seashore and Pensacola Beach.
Back in the Sunshine State and on the west side of what is referred to as the Emerald Coast of Florida. This entire area is famous for deep sea fishing and beautiful beaches. This area is a long barrier island with few access roads which help the pristine beaches remain that way. May use the intercostal beach areas for stand up paddleboarding, jet skiing and other water sports where you can use more shallow waters.
A remote getaway with very few palm trees but miles of beach Florida is famous for. Perfect for finding enough space for a game of beach volleyball or walking alone with that special someone admiring the sand dunes and north shore of Florida's Gulf of Mexico as gentle waves caress your feet. Although relatively unknown Navarre Florida is near perfect for most of the year. Navarre Beach and it's pier is far superior to Huntington Beach and Huntington Beach Pier.
That stretch of the Emerald Coast beach features just bout everything most beach lovers are looking for and all within about a 30 mile stretch. Spring Break, Honeymooners, families and just beach lovers wanting some seclusion can all find what they are looking for about 9 months out of the year. All you need is a beach chair, a beach umbrella and the soft white sand around you. I actually lived here for 15 years.
For the younger crowd that has not travelled that much and follows fame and promotion these hot sports are favorites. You will find then on the Southeast side of Florida but I would not call them the best beaches in the United States or even close. Although a gorgeous beach the soft white sands are missing and instead have a pink tint. The water is a beautiful blue color but the crowds are insane and parking is nearly impossible. If you visit stay at a beach front hotel or a local resident.
I started my beach experience bac in the 1980's living on Guam in the South Pacific. We had a coral sand that stayed relatively cool during the day and lived on a crescent shaped beach suitable for surfing and boogie boarding.
My girlfriend lived in Hawaii and I visited there as frequently as possible as she was a flight attendant. I went to Waimea Bay Beach Park, KaanaPali Beach and Lanikai Beach as well as the more famous ones there. Believe it or not the water gets cold just like Pensacola Beach. Stick with Beaches from Clearwater Beach to the south and you can visit year round.
