Tampa or St Petersburg are both great options. However when you say St Petersburg vs Tampa that question is a little more nuanced and it depends on what you are looking for. St Petersburg has well over 150 parks and of course beautiful beaches. Tampa is more of a big city with attractions often within walking distance.
Although St Petersburg does have 2 airports you will most likely be using the one in Tampa. It is just much larger and has many more connecting flights. The St Pete-Clearwater International Airport is located on the bay side while another airport the City of St Petersburg: Albert Whitted Airport is to the south and also overlooks Tampa Bay.
Downtown Tampa is one of the most beautiful downtowns in the United States. It is also the home of a cruise port and the Amalie Sports Arena. The number of attractions, things to do and places to eat is shocking. So is how modern and diverse the city has become.
A vibrant nightlife. That is how I would describe the downtown scene. There is bar hopping to be done, outdoor dining, music venues and of course the famous Tampa Riverwalk. Tampa's nightlife certainly does not disappoint no matter what you are searching for or expecting. Not to mention the Hard Rock Cafe'.
The city offers young professionals many things. State Parks, live music, outdoor activities, ferry rides, art museums and of course Raymond James Stadium. I will also remind you of the Amalie Center and our professional sports teams. Clearwater Beach and St Petersburg have nothing to rival them.
Ybor City is immediately east of the Downtown Tampa area. This is a cultural Mecca and home of some of the more interesting and historical facts about Tampa. It is also one of the most unique partying areas you will find in Florida. Dine on fantastic Cuban Food or purchase a fine hand rolled Cuban Cigar while you walk the main strip. It is something one must experience at least once when you visit Tampa Bay.
There is one small thing that we must give a tip of the hat to. The beautiful beaches and clubs along the shore of the Gulf Coast. I have been to beaches all over Florida and the world. Guam, Europe, Miami, Pensacola and Panama City Beach I have called them all home. The beaches in St Petersburg are great and better than most. If you crave the beach life I advise you to visit St Petersburg before even bothering to go southward. You won't regret it. Clearwater Beach and St Petersburg are some of the best destinations in FL. Second lace is not that bad, Tampa is still #1.
