What Is The Safest Beach Community In Florida?

Siesta Key Beach is the safest beach community in Florida. That is a far as public beaches. Jupiter Island on the Atlantic Coast has a beach but the entire island is a gated community of just under 1000 people. Very safe, but very exclusive.

Florida Beaches

Safe Beach Towns In Florida That Have Pristine Beaches

Marco Island has a population of around 20,000 people. It is hard to tell for sure because the last hurricane may have changed that number and we are between census periods. I mention the population because the crime rate is only 7 per 1,000 residents. That is lower than 63% of the towns in America. When you consider the powdery white beaches (quartz sand) then load the truck if you can afford it and move to Marco Island.

Siesta Key, Siesta Key Beach and Siesta Key Village

Siesta Key has a crime rate that is lower than 87% of Florida and Lower than 73% of the United States. It doesn't even matter where you live on the island as it is all fairly low. The beach has the highest content of quartz sand on Florida's Gulf Coast. Beautiful beaches with powdery white sugar sands that look like they go on for miles. And apparently some basic safety precautions will suffice. However, when I visit Siesta Key Village (shops and restaurants) I am still placing valuables out of sight and locking my car. Over all, the number on Florida beach town all things considered.

Siesta Key The Safest Beach Town In Florida

Panama City Beach? Pensacola Beach?

Probably not the safest Florida beach towns nor the best beaches. Why? Bigger cities, nearby highway and Spring Break Challenges. Yes there are white sandy beaches but this is northwest Florida where it gets way to cold. Full disclosure, I was a law enforcement officer here for 13 years. Not much of a violent crime rate but still I would take a pass compared to other Southwest Florida beach towns.

Clearwater Beach & Clearwater Florida Gulf Coast Beach Towns

Clearwater Beach has a surprisingly high crime rate. Most of which is property crime which is not that surprising at a beach with a parking lot. Combine that with vacationers and alcohol and you are going to get some violent crime also. Still it is embarrassing to say that 4 people out of 1,000 will be the victim of violent crime and 18 out of 1,000 will be the victim of a property crime. The crime rate here is higher than 81% of America's neighborhoods.

Miami Beach & South Beach Crime Rates

Hold onto your seat. 67 out of 1,000 people in Miami Beach will be the victim of a crime this year. 8 out of 1,000 will be the victim of a violent crime and 59 will be the victim of a property crime. The overall crime rate is higher than 99% of towns in America. The property crime rate is over 3 times as high as the Florida average and the violent crime rate is twice as high as the Florida average. Gorgeous beaches? Not really and the worst one to visit on the east coast. Do better already Miami.

St Augustine Beach Coastal Towns With Natural Beauty & Popular Beaches

St Augustine Beach is safer than 44% of American cities. A far cry from Miami Beach and well within the acceptable level for me. I have lived in St Augustine and actually loved it there. The beach is a meh, beach in my opinion. At least compared to those along of the west coastal towns. These beaches are not what I would call white. Case in point pour some sugar on them and you will quickly see and they also get hotter. Crime statistics good, beaches meh.

Daytona Beach Florida Awesome Beach Towns Great Beach Area

Daytona Beach has a wonderful and very entertaining beach and associated beach town. Let's face it, the speedway, Bike Week, the amusement park and the pier scream out awesome beach. Is the sand that white powdery beach sand? No.

The Crime statistics say that overall it is safer than only 6% of neighborhoods and way more dangerous than the national average. Definitely not among the safest towns in Florida as it has a crime rate of 39 out of 1,000 being victimized each year. 10 by violent crime and 28 by a property crime.

The Florida Keys A Coastal Gem On The Atlantic Ocean

Curious? Let's talk Key West. Surprisingly Key West is only safer than 21% of American Cities and only a little safer than the average Florida town. A lot of the crimes are thefts which is to be expected but still very sad. Less than 3 out of 1,000 will be the victim of a burglary but 4 in 1,000 will be the victim of a violent crime. That would still not deter me from living there or visiting. However, the beaches are very over rated. This is a fishing, partying and scuba diving village. Not a place with beautiful beaches.
