The best place to live in Florida is Tampa Bay. Tampa Florida is located in Central Florida and the actual city of Tampa is minutes form the nearest beach which is located along Florida's Gulf Coast in western Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay has many cultural attractions and outdoor activities.
The Sunshine State has many amazing locations to live. South Florida get the best press because of Miami Dade County does have a certain alure to it. For most, the dream of living in Miami Dade County becomes a wakeup call after visiting it, or living in it as I have. Palm Beach County gets slightly better because it is to the north of Miami and slightly less dense. The cost of housing and many other issues make it a poor choice.
A little further north of Miami and you come to West Palm Beach. This area is a fairly decent place to live. You still have beautiful beaches, the Palm Beach International Airport, natural beauty and fine schools. Not to mention the traffic wonderful compared to the the rest of South Florida on the eastern side. West Palm Beach would be my pick here. I have lived in all 3 areas.
Fort Myers is one of if not the fastest growing city in Florida. Why? It is actually rather rural compared to the larger metropolitan areas. That may be changing soon and I hope that it maintains it's charm and natural beauty. I almost moved to Fort Myers over 20 years ago when I was more of a fisherman. If you want to live in Florida for a little less money, in a gulf coast area, this or nearby Fort Myers is a great option just no big city amenities.
Tallahassee is where you will find Florida State University, the state capitol and not much else of interest. If you are interested in this area then checkout the Gainesville population and the Pensacola population. If you are looking for more of a laid back beach lifestyle and white sandy beaches then Fort Walton Beach or Destin FL are where you should look.
Orlando has a rather large population and can be a great place to live in Florida. Much of it I would pass on completely but the downtown area is really nice and is even modernizing. There are golf courses, amusement parks like Walt Disney World, Universal and Sea World. Not to mention countless others. The median home price is similar to that of Tampa and these are the best cities from here southward.
Not only does Tampa Bay have Clearwater Beach and St Pete Beach but it has a thriving Tampa population and incredible vibrant downtown area. Tampa has theme parks, affordable housing, culture, arts, cruise ships, museums, major sports teams and even great schools.
