Those waters may be turquoise blue waters or have a slight emerald tint to them. Either way in Florida all of the water is from the Atlantic Ocean as the gulf stream replenished the Gulf of Mexico continually. That slight green tint is not what most people think. The sand that you will find on the gulf coast has made it here from the Appalachian Mountains. The sand is very powdery and consists of a quartz not coral, and certainly not anything like the sand which burns your feet. Some cities have put walkways between parking lots and the moist sand to make it easier to walk the sand can be so fine and soft. Siesta Key Beach was the first to do this and you will also find walkways as far off of Destin Beach and Navarre Beach in the Florida Panhandle.

With well over a mile beach there is marine life, striking turquoise waters and beautiful sunsets. Needless to say the soft sand will make beach volleyball a challenge.
The northwest corner holds a small island named sand dollar island one of the stunning beaches you will likely be one of very few on.
Think amazing scuba diving, normally calm waters perfect for kite surfing and jet skiing. All you will need is a towel, cooler and a lounge chair. While not one of the longest beaches in the world it is certainly one of the pretties and most overlooked.
