I spent almost 15 years living along the Emerald Coast. many a day I went to these beaches or took my Robalo on a deep sea fishing trip. As soon as the spring time came and the water temperature hit 68% we would launch our boat at Santa Rosa Beach and begin fishing along the coastline. Some of the prettiest white sand beaches in Florida are to be found here and some amazing emerald waters.
Navarre Beach, Fort Walton beach and Destin Beach are probably the most family friendly beaches in northwest Florida. The have relatively shallow waters perfect for kite surfing, jet skiing and yes scuba diving is a thing there as well. There is a slight problem keeping these beaches back. It gets way to cold here in the winter and those turquoise waters are unbearable.
There is no better beach town than Clearwater Beach. You can only enjoy the white sand beaches for so long. Sooner or later you want to venture around the area and be fed or entertained. Nowhere on the Florida gulf coast does that better than Clearwater Beach or St Pete Beach.
The pier, the boardwalk, water sports and every type of boat tour imaginable and nightly sunset celebration will make you long to return. Honeymoon Island is a quiet beach in the northern part of Tampa Bay. This is one of the best beaches for marine life and nature trails. Not to mention somewhat secluded unlike other beaches to the south. The same turquoise waters and powdery white sands await you, just with fewer tourist around.
A tip of the hat to Siesta Key Beach. Although the town is lagging a little behind Clearwater Beach Siesta Key and Siesta Key Beach should be seen and appreciated. Powdered sugar white sand beaches are the norm here. Not to mention it too faces west so when the sun sets you have an incredible view. The water is crystal clear and normally the waves are just perfect. This is also a better place to search for broken shells, sharks teeth etc.
Does Siesta Key have the whitest sand? It is really to close to call. If these end up as your favorite beaches (as they should) they are only an hour or so apart and you can't go wrong either way. Siesta Key is however a small island. Years ago they discovered they had the softest sand around. To make it easier to reach the waters edge pathways were strategically placed to make walking easier.
The fine Sand at Cocoa Beach and Daytona Beach is not white. It is white'ish. You will notice if you ever visit Cocoa Beach. There are some good things about those beaches but do not expect the Fort Walton Beach or Clearwater Beach Florida type of glistening white sand. However, these are the two best beaches on the Atlantic Coast in Central Florida.
