It is called the The Courtney Campbell Causeway because prior to 1948 Courtney W Campbell spearheaded efforts needed for the construction repairs and beautification of the previously named Davis Causeway. Originally the Davis Causeway was completed in 1927 and then in 1948 the Davis Causeway was officially renamed the Courtney Campbell Causeway.
The Courtney Campbell Parkway connects Pinellas County to Hillsborough County and Tampa Florida to Clearwater Florida and ultimately Clearwater Beach. The Davis name is paid homage to now as ben T Davis Beach is in a way the best starting point to begin and end your journey on the trail. The nicest restrooms, parking and even dining are all located at this beach.
If you are a Clearwater Beach resident you will likely just go to the Clearwater starting point on the west end. The perk of using the Courtney Campbell Beaches as a starting point is obvious. It is by far closer to the bridge and other at parking on one of the access roads or at the public boat ramp it is tough to beat.
Not only does the Courtney Campbell Causeway provide a direct link between two amazing destinations but the causeway is well known for fishing and providing a fantastic aerial view of Tampa Bay and the open body of water it holds. As for the water quality and clarity you will be pleasantly surprised to see how far you can see into the water from the bridge itself. Thank you for researching the Courtney Campbell Causeway.
