Is Key West or Clearwater Better?

Clearwater Beach is better than Key West. Here are the main differences. The beach here is better, the nightlife if better, the overall area in Clearwater Beach is far more friendly to both families and spring breakers alike. Key west wins when it comes to deep sea fishing and scuba diving. I used to live in Miami and have been to the Florida Keys around 25 times.

Both Key West, Key Largo & The Florida Keys Are Worth Checking Out

Key West and any Florida Key are a great place to check out the Atlantic Ocean. Do they have beautiful beaches? No, that is why the islands are relatively unspoiled. If you are interested in partying, deep sea fishing or scuba diving or snorkeling on the coral reefs in the clear blue waters then this town is definitely better than the Gulf of Mexico waters.

Most visitors that vacation here twice realize this. Duval Street is the main street here ant it is best left to the Bohemians. Should you visit Key West? Sure, the summer weather is amazing and there are some attractions here. You can definitely go swimming at Smathers Beach but between the two places you will most likely prefer Clearwater Beach or god forbid even South Beach in Miami.

A Better Overall View Of Clearwater Beach

Both of these two destinations have the same water sports available. Jet skiing fun, a sunset cruise and of course their own natural beauty. Both places have seafood restaurants, live entertainment and gorgeous people.

Clearwater averages by far better beaches and there is no better beach than Clearwater Beach or better beach town. As for sun, you will find no place with more continuous days of sun than here. As for nightlife? I still say that the local bars here are superior. In reality food in the restaurants is never much different in the Continental United States, its all good.

Both Key West & The Gulf Of Mexico Have White Sand

When you travel to an island location like key West or Clearwater Beach travelers expect their beach time to be spent on white sand and for the water to be clean and clear. The top beaches in the Florida Keys are by far inferior to the best beaches on the Gulf of Mexico side of Florida. Trust me when I say this, the nicest beach is Clearwater Beach right here in Tampa Bay.
