Yes Clearwater FL is a nice place to live and so is Clearwater Beach. Not only is the area affordable but it has a lot of attractions and is located in the Tampa Bay area. Theme parks, cruises, powdery white sand beaches and countless restaurants.
Residents and tourists alike love the downtown area which is 1/2 of a mile wide and almost exactly 2 miles long from east to west. Coachman Park is on the western side of downtown Clearwater overlooking the intracoastal waterway and is one of the newest attractions. Coachman Park has a live music venue, state of the art playground and many more outdoor activities.
On the eastern side of the downtown portion of the city you will find a small residential area with mid priced Clearwater homes and Crest Lake Park which is another of the many parks in this city. The town government is obviously focused on making Clearwater FL not only a great place for spring breakers but for residents as well.
Fun things and sunshine are nearly always available in the Clearwater area. Live entertainment seems to be around every corner. Other than just the beach area activities include water sports like paddle boarding, fishing and jet skiing in the channels. Many Clearwater residents will just choose one of the popular restaurants or family friendly movie theaters to spend one of those warm weather evenings.
With no state income tax living in Clearwater FL is very attractive for young professionals and the more mature groups like the one I fall into. With adequate public transportation within the city limits the overall cost of living is fairly manageable. Not to mention once your away from the beautiful gulf beaches the price points of single family homes goes down significantly. Other than that the cost of living compared to the rest of the Tampa Bay area is surprisingly similar.
The public school system is watched over by Pinellas County. Pinellas County has a great website for those who wish to research their schools if you plan on living in Clearwater. I suggest researching Clearwater High School, Clearwater Christian College and even St Petersburg College as it is only minutes away. Yes, there are a few private schools as well. Other attractions include....
Clearwater Harbor
Caladesi Island State Park
Honeymoon Island
Safety Harbor
Clearwater Receives Some Severe Weather During The hurricane Season. So does Sand Key and all of the best beaches along the Gulf Coast. It makes little difference if you live on the barrier island of Clearwater Beach or within this city. That being said it has been around 100 years since a direct hit has been received during hurricane season. Usually just stronger than average winds and a few days of rain.
All the white sand is so bright on sunny days you will need to invest in some great looking sun glasses. While watching one of the dance performances at Ruth Eckerd Hall you might think you can do it also. With the money you cave because of the low cost of living here you will have more to spend enjoying the local food scene and need a gym membership. See, it is not all fantastic in Clearwater FL.
