How far is Tampa from the airport? The Tampa International Airport is within the city of Tampa on the western side and in the center of or very near the center of Tampa Bay FL. I know that when you see the Tampa airport on the map it looks like it it not in the city but it is. Tampa Bay is usually not market unless you type Tampa Bay and hit search in Google Maps.

The Tampa International Airport To Downtown Tampa

From the TPA airport Downtown Tampa can be reached in about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic. The driving distance is less than you think. There is of course a many a rental car center in TPA airport and yes there is a rental car facility for returning them when you are ready to depart. There is a shuttle service and other types of ground transportation available. Your hotel may even have a shuttle bus pick-up if it is within 5 miles or so.

Clearwater Beach is a 30 minute drive to the west and St Pete Beach is normally around 45 minutes because it is considerably south of Clearwater Beach.

Economy Parking Garage & Great Telephone Lot

One thing about the TPA airport is that it has a great cell phone lot. Easy to find, plenty of room and very quick to the pickup areas. Not to mention vending, restrooms and a huge electronic board to track incoming flight times. Orlando has one to that even has restaurants. However, Tampa's is situated much better and you can see the board from most parking spots. Well done TPA airport.
