Does Florida Have Better Beaches Than California?

Yes Florida has better beaches than California does. California is better for surfing but Florida absolutely has superior beaches and beach towns. Our sand is whiter, cooler and out water is clearer. Once you eliminate surfing from the equation Florida wins hands down.

Florida Beaches

Southern California Beaches For A Beach Vacation?

First let's talk about San Diego California's beaches. The water temperature in Fahrenheit in January is 59 degrees. The water temperature in June is 64 degrees. Sorry, that is way to cold for me to be interested in. Maybe that is why they have seals and Florida doesn't. Maybe that is why they have more shark attacks and killer whales.

The Pacific Ocean is the warmest in San Diego when compared to northern California beaches or say San Francisco. I chose this city because it is on the border with Mexico. Between California and Florida Beaches, Florida's beaches win the pleasant temperature battle. Even in the winter we have warmer water.

The Warm Water Of The Atlantic Ocean & South Florida

All of the water in the Gulf of Mexico or on the Gulf Coast of Florida is part of the Atlantic Ocean. The gulf stream which is miles wide continually flows at around 1.1 to 3.5 mph as it moves Atlantic waters along the Florida Keys, Key West, the east coast and gulf coast of Florida.

The West Coast Of Florida's Beaches Compared To The California Coastline

Unlike Californian beaches that may have a more diverse landscape Florida's beaches got fine powdery quartz sand. The what sand you will see on the west coast of Florida is actually from the Appalachian Mountains. It is cooler during the day, softer on your feet and blinding white. If you're choosing a beach destination for spring break or to take the family would you prefer brown sand? Of course not, we all know the best beaches are white sand beaches with crystal clear turquoise water.

How Many Beaches Are in Florida

Smaller Waves Are Better Than Bigger Waves

with warm waters or cold water smaller waves are safer and more enjoyable for the masses. Can you surf in Florida? Sure you can. The largest Ron Jon Surf Shop in the world is at Cocoa Beach. People surf on this states beaches every day. Is there a party scene? Of course we have South Beach, Miami Beach and thousands of college students flock here throughout the summer. California offers big waves but we offer much more than a surfer's paradise.

Most Beaches in Florida Are Available Year Round

Jet skiing, swimming are best done in a tropical climate. From Clearwater Beach or Daytona Beach southward that is what Florida beaches offer. That is why Walt Disney World and the other theme parks were built here. The beautiful beaches are just 1 to 2 hours away from most of the them parks. Not to mention the many beaches which are man made like Volcano Bay at Universal Studios.

Planning a Beach Holiday Or A Move?

If your looking for party beaches or family friendly beaches Tampa Bay has you covered. Crystal River and it's beautiful springs are within an hour or so, Florida's version on Venice Beach is just about an hour to the south if you drive. The best beaches are definitely in Florida.
