2 hours is how long the ride is from Orlando to Tampa on average. Both areas are very large so it depends on your point of origin and destination. Lets start off with from the downtown areas because both access to several modes of transportation. Driving takes 1 hour and 20 minutes if there is no traffic at all like at 3 AM.
Many people use the bus and there are even options depending on the times that you need a direct bus. Keep in mind that riding time of the fastest bus does not include the time to get to the station or waiting on your bus, time to get a bus ticket etc. Expect a ride time or two and a half hours to three hours and twenty minutes of bliss for this bus ride.
The Tampa Airport does not have a train ticket available. As for driving it is just about 15 minutes further from Orlando to Tampa downtown. Mind the traffic after your close to the city and keep in the proper lanes. A train ticket can get you to downtown then taxi or Uber to the Tampa Airport but any Tampa train tickets need to be purchased considering a long ride and trust me it is.
Believe it or not $15 to $20 is about the going rate for Flix or Greyhound. Both drop off at the same place in the north part of downtown Tampa and not to far from the Amtrak station. Although there are many transport options for travel driving your own car is probably best depending on your situation. No matter how many buses you ride, it is still a bus. Good luck with your trip between the two cities and please be safe.
