The traffic is much worse in Miami than in Tampa Bay or the city of Tampa FL. I have lived in both places. I lived in Miami of the greater Miami area for nearly 10 years (I'm 60). I have also lived in Tampa and Orlando as I moved around a lot for work. I have hundreds of thousand of miles experience in these areas.
That is how I would describe Miami Florida traffic. I-95 is such a nightmare that there are now pay as you go lanes forcing the average one way commute in the metro area to be horrendous for the typical commuter. Between the two cities of Tampa & Miami Tampa looses in no area off measured traffic.
The 826 is one of the primary roads in Miami. I used it all of the time as it takes you by the Miami International Airport. It to is absolutely terrible although slightly betted during off peak times. The only thing I believe that Miami has going for it is the metropolitan rail. The train station is near the airport and it is actually useful.
Cities to the north of Miami get to escape the worst traffic. Still, bad traffic persists until you reach the Palm Beach Airport vicinity. Roads in this area have ben improved and traffic will actually flow decently. When the highways to the south were designed they had no idea how many people would eventually be using them. No wonder they are terrible and so many wrecks occur there. Stick with Tampa.
