Yes Cocoa Beach Florida is very nice if not there would not be a Ron Jon Surf Shop located there. Cocoa Beach has more attractions than most people think and being on the East Coast is just one of them. In the surrounding area the Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral National Seashore just get more press.
Unfortunately the west coast of Florida just does not have the surf nor the fishing that the east coast has. Although both areas are technically the Atlantic Ocean the gulf stream is usually about 40 miles offshore on the gulf side. The beach towns on the eastern coast will have in around 5 miles off shore from Central Florida southward. Better fishing, better surf with consistent waves and warmer water temperatures in the winter months.
The Cocoa Beach Pier extends about 400 feet into the Atlantic Ocean from the shoreline. This is not the typical fishing pier but then again this is not really a fishing town, it is a beach town. The pier is more for the view of the surfers surfing and to have a meal at one of the restaurants or happy hour. Awesome, if you like live music and turquoise blue water beaches.
Cocoa Beach Florida used to be a great place to watch the shuttle launch from. You could witness it from anywhere in the city and I had that opportunity one by random chance. You can still occasionally witness rocket launches from here even though Kennedy Space Center is quite a distance north Space X launches from Cape Canaveral National Seashore just 7 miles north of the Cocoa Beach Pier.
Cocoa Beach offers more than just beautiful beaches. Sea turtles, surf shops and surfing lessons as well as kayak tours. Keep in mind this is the surfing capital of Florida but designed for the whole family to enjoy, The City of Cocoa Beach has it all including hotels, gift shops and great local restaurants. Many people mover here and to them it is much more than just a great vacation spot.
Orlando Beach, Vero Beach are two other beaches you will love. More great food and many restaurants seem to be everywhere you look. Often easy access and free parking will make your beach experience even better. All of this and more can be found at Cocoa Beach and within a short drive to the south side.
Cocoa Beach tours would not exist if this was not a beautiful place with a rich history. Port Canaveral and the Space Coast may initially draw visitors but Cocoa Beach and the other beach towns on the south side keep them returning year after year. Just stop by the world's largest surf shop and grab some beach gear. Beach access is less than a mile away and maybe I will see you there. Yes, Cocoa Beach Florida is certainly worth visiting.
