Yes, sometimes it does rain a lot in Tampa Florida. However, in the winter months the average temperature and Tampa climate are amazing. I often joke with friends that if the average temperatures were similar to the pleasant months of fall and spring the whole world would want to move to Tampa.
Average rainfall during those mild winters is very low. How low? November is usually the driest month with just over 1.6 inches of rain and begins the dry season. The rain totals are still fairly low until May when the rainy season resumes. The peak of the rainy season is usually August when we get over 7 inches of rain historically. In 2023 Hurricane Idalia provided most of that average in just a few days.
Tampa Bay is unique from most cities for many reasons. One of those is the amount of water around the city including the bays. That water has a impact on not only the rain but also the temperature and breeze. Humid Summers are slightly more tolerable here because of that breeze. Then in the winter months it is still pleasantly warm because of the warm waters in the gulf. The average weather here is actually fairly easy to predict.
